Overland Park, Kan. — Overland Park Regional Medical Center — part of HCA Midwest Health, Kansas City’s largest healthcare provider — and Kansas City Women’s Clinic, which is affiliated with the hospital, recently received the Health Partnership Clinic’s prestigious Leadership Impact Award. Jeff Teply, MD, of Kansas City Women’s Clinic, which is part of HCA Midwest Health’s Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) resident clinic, and Matt Sogard, CEO of Overland Park Regional Medical Center, accepted the award during Health Partnership Clinic’s (HPC) Seventh Annual Opening Doors Luncheon.

The fundraising event spotlighted lifesaving prenatal care. Kansas City Women’s Clinic serves as a teaching facility for resident physicians pursuing a specialty in obstetrics and gynecology. Newly licensed physicians work alongside Overland Park Regional Medical Center’s skilled attending physicians to deliver exceptional OB/GYN care to HPC’s patients.

“As longtime community partners of the Health Partnership Clinic, Kansas City Women’s Clinic and Overland Park Regional Medical Center are proud to support its mission of serving the most vulnerable in the Kansas City area,” Dr. Teply said. “Every mother deserves a healthy start for her baby. High-quality and compassionate prenatal care is a crucial service ensuring healthier futures for mothers and babies alike. The Leadership Impact Award is a tremendous honor that reflects our shared vision for equitable, accessible healthcare, and we are committed to our collaboration with Health Partnership Clinic as a community united for health.”

The late April luncheon celebrated resilience, compassion, and community, with nearly 200 supporters gathered to champion the clinic’s mission of improving health, impacting lives and inspiring hope. Attendees helped raise almost $98,000 to fund vital medical, dental, behavioral health, and prenatal services for uninsured and underserved families at four clinics and sites throughout Johnson, Franklin, and Miami counties. Each year, HPC provides nearly $3 million in uncompensated care, serving as a lifeline for individuals and families who might otherwise go without the care they need.

“The Annual Opening Doors Luncheon celebrates our mission of accessible, quality health care for all while honoring the partners who help make it possible,” said HPC CEO Amy Falk. “This year, we proudly highlighted our collaboration with Kansas City Women’s Clinic’s Resident Clinic and Overland Park Regional Medical Center — a partnership first championed by Dr. Kimberly Swan, director of the accredited Graduate Medical Education Resident Clinic and now led by Dr. Jeff Teply and Matt Sogard. Together, we’re transforming prenatal care in our community. Since November 2023, we’ve provided full prenatal services at our Olathe site, caring for 100 expectant mothers monthly and welcoming 65 healthy babies while training the next generation of OB/GYN leaders.”
