Patrick Rafferty appointed as chief executive officer of Centerpoint Medical Center
Independence, Mo. — Centerpoint Medical Center — part of HCA Midwest Health, Kansas City’s largest healthcare provider — has named Patrick Rafferty as its new chief executive officer (CEO), effective July 2025.
Rafferty most recently served as chief operating officer at Overland Park Regional Medical Center, where he played a critical role in advancing hospital operations, service line growth, and expansion efforts. Since joining HCA Midwest Health in 2023, he has overseen key capital investments, forged strong partnerships with physicians and EMS providers, and helped improve patient volume and operational efficiency across cardiovascular, surgical, trauma, GI, and women’s services.
“Patrick’s deep operational experience and commitment to excellence make him a strong leader for Centerpoint Medical Center,” said HCA Midwest Health President Keith Zimmerman. “His collaborative approach and proven success in expanding services and strengthening engagement will support Centerpoint’s continued growth and mission of delivering high-quality, accessible care to Eastern Jackson County.”
Rafferty’s HCA Healthcare career began in 2015 in the TriStar Division, where he quickly rose through the ranks — from associate administrator at TriStar Centennial Medical Center, then COO at TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center. Throughout his career, he has led major service expansions, improved colleague and patient engagement, and helped drive innovation in care delivery.
“It’s an honor to serve as CEO of Centerpoint Medical Center, a cornerstone of healthcare in Eastern Jackson County,” said Rafferty. “Centerpoint has a proud legacy of delivering compassionate, high-quality care, and I’m inspired by the opportunity to build on that strong foundation. I look forward to working closely with our physicians, nurses, staff and our community to expand access, enhance the patient experience, and deepen our impact on the health and well-being of the regions we serve.”
Rafferty earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Iowa. He is a graduate of several HCA Healthcare leadership development programs and a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Passionate about community engagement, he currently serves on the board of the Forever Smiles Foundation and has been actively involved with local chambers of commerce and civic organizations.
